SD 65 takes in part of West St Paul, which is south of St Paul’s West Side. The West Side is actually south of St Paul’s downtown. SD 65 sits partly in CD2 but most of it is in CD4.
Senate District 65 is oddly shaped because no Republican has ever been able to help shape this district. Most Republicans who weigh in on how Legislative Districts are set up don’t live in St Paul or Minneapolis so the Legislative Districts are askew here. We have 17 District Councils that align with the neighborhoods more, but the boundaries of the Legislative Districts never make much sense here. The long serving DFL Senator Sandy Pappas in SD 65, only lives in St Paul for half of the year while she lives the other half in Israel. Mitch Berg lives in HD 65A on the left side of this oddly shaped district. Last election cycle they didn’t have a candidate running, and the DFL Rep won after candidate filing ended. Maybe Mitch should run some time?
BPOU Conventions are to Elect Officers and State Central Delegates & Alternates
These conventions are open to the public. People who identify as Republicans may run for an office, however they can’t vote unless they became a Precinct Delegate or Alternate at Precinct Caucuses in 2024.
These conventions are to elect the Local Party Unit (BPOU) Officers, and their State Central Delegates & Alternates. They sometimes amend their Constitutions as well.
